FAQ

What materials are used to build containers?

Containers for dry cargo ships are made of 'Corten' corrosion-resistant steel. The container frames, roofs, side panels, and doors are pre-treated to ensure their service life. All components are coated with a marine-standard chlorinated rubber or acrylic paint system. The installed floors are mainly made of plywood, but sometimes steel floors are installed for special cargo.

What are the conventional sizes of containers?

Containers are manufactured in accordance with ISO specifications. The most widely used ones are 20-foot and 40-foot containers. Smaller containers of 6 feet, 7 feet, 8 feet, 9 feet, and 10 feet are also available. All standard containers have the same width, and the heights come in two specifications: 8 feet 6 inches and 9 feet 6 inches (for high cube containers). We can also provide containers of different sizes such as 25 feet, 30 feet, 35 feet, and 45 feet according to your requirements.

Where can containers be loaded and unloaded?

Almost anywhere. Asphalt roads, gravel, grasslands, soil, or concrete surfaces are all acceptable. The containers are self-supporting at the four corners. However, on unstable soft soil foundations, we always recommend using 4 paving stones or 2 railway sleepers or similar materials to distribute the weight. You need to ensure that there is a suitable ground beside the container to allow the transport truck to access and have sufficient stability for loading and unloading goods.

How long is the general service life of a container?

Containers used for international transportation tend to be "retired" after 10 years of use. Depending on the usage conditions and the external environment of the container, new containers may be used for more than 30 years.

What are the main differences in the future values between a new container and a used container?

Generally speaking, the price of a container is determined by three factors. Firstly, it is the condition of the container. Secondly, it is the strength of the US dollar, because all new and used containers are sold internationally in US dollars. Finally, the global economy plays a certain role, because traditionally, areas with a high level of idle containers will reduce the value of containers. It is impossible to predict future values, but generally speaking, new containers used only for domestic storage can maintain a higher value for a longer time. If the equipment is aged and was initially used for international shipping, there will obviously be a greater degree of corrosion, and if it is not maintained in a timely manner, the value will decline more rapidly.

Can we modify the container?

Yes. For domestic and static storage use, almost any reasonable modification is possible. However, for containers that will be reused for international transportation, they must be retested after modification to ensure that they continue to meet the requirements of ISO and the CSC (International Convention for Safe Containers).

What are the floors of containers made of?

Almost all standard containers are made with plywood floors or bamboo floors. Some special containers can also have checkered steel plates as the bottom floors. Refrigerated (reefer) containers use aluminum "T" - type floors.

Are all containers painted?

All new containers adopt a marine-quality paint system, which is designed to cope with harsh marine environments. Usually, most standard containers are painted with water-based paint, while special containers are either painted with water-based paint or with solvent-based paint.

How high can containers be stacked at most?

Generally speaking, all containers can be stacked eight layers high.

Can you deliver containers to all parts of the world?

Yes, our container distribution service covers all corners of the globe.

Can I choose the color of the container?

Yes, we can meet your requirements for the color of the container, and we will confirm it through the RAL (color matching system). *Note: Some colors may be more expensive than others.

Can I make a container with my own design, or in other words, can a container be made according to my own needs?

Yes, we will provide you with assistance throughout the entire process from design to prototype testing and then to mass production.

What is a one-way container?

Such containers are only used once, from the place where they are manufactured to the place where they are available for sale. Usually, ISO standard containers are often used for this purpose.

How many types of containers are there?

There are about ten types of containers, including dry cargo containers, refrigerated containers, ventilated containers, tank containers, bulk containers, open-top containers, platform containers, flat-rack containers, livestock containers (pen containers), and car containers.

How many types of container refrigeration units are there currently?

There are four marine types, namely Carrier, Thermo King, Daikin, and Mitsubishi.

What kind of refrigerant is used in refrigerated containers?

There are currently two commonly used refrigerants, R134a and R404a.

What is the general operating range of a refrigerated container?

The internal temperature range is approximately from -30°C to +30°C. The ambient temperature range is approximately from -30°C to +50°C.

What is the PTI of a refrigerated container?

This is the Pre-Trip Inspection of a refrigerated container. PTI is actually a comprehensive inspection of the container and the machine. The inspection ensures that the refrigeration machinery operates normally under the correct settings and that the container is clean and free of damage.

What are the basic components of a refrigeration unit?

There are compressors, condensers, control boxes, evaporators, etc.
